For the past year, our refrigerator has lived inside our workshop container while we've been renovating our abandoned watermill in Portugal. Meanwhile, we've been living between the container, our camper van and more recently have added our mill to the mix — something that has become so normal that we didn't realize how much discomfort we'd gotten used to. But today, the refrigerator finally makes its way into the mill, changing the way we live our lives once and for all! It sounds like a small thing… but after 13 years of van life, having our food, kitchen, bathroom, shower and bedroom all under the same roof feels absolutely surreal. For the first time, we're really starting to experience what it might feel like to actually live in the home we've been building. And the projects don't stop there. We tackle a DIY 1,000W solar installation for our workshop container, building our own custom framework for four 200W bifacial panels. After a few unexpected obstacles, lots of measuring, cutting and problem-solving, we finally get the system producing power. We also spend time with our friend Steve, explore one of our favorite beaches on the Algarve coast, enjoy some very Portuguese food and incredible views with family, connect Starlink to the mill, welcome our first real kitchen routines… and finish the episode watching a partial solar eclipse from the mountains of southern Portugal.
