A disgraced funeral director has been coming face to face with bereaved victims in court as he faces jail this week over a catalogue of offences at his business in Hull. Robert Bush is on the third day of a five day sentencing hearing in a case which sent shockwaves through the nation and led to calls for tougher regulations across the funeral industry. The 48-year-old admitted 67 charges, including preventing a lawful and decent burial and fraud. The charges relate to the discovery of remains at his business on Hessle Road in city back in early 2024, when concerns were raised about ongoing practices. Bush was initially due to be tried later this year, but pleaded guilty in April to 30 counts of preventing a burial and more than 30 fraud charges, as well as theft.
