Tamil Nadu Assembly 2026 LIVE | CM Vijay Speech | DMK Vs TVK In Tamil Nadu Assembly | Tamil News Live | CNBC TV18
CM Vijay shared a "kutty story" in the Tamil Nadu Assembly today:
An elderly man, shielding his eyes from the scorching sun, was asked by a child what he was searching for. "I heard your father would be somewhere here, but I can't find him," he replied.
Vijay then remarked, "We too know how to speak sarcastically, but that's not related to the issue at hand."
Chennai: For the first time, the proceedings of the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly were telecast live in their entirety on Monday, marking a new chapter in the history of the century-old Assembly, which originally came into being during the British rule.
It was the previous DMK government (2021-2026) that took the first step towards broadcasting House events but the coverage remained selective – Chief Minister’s speeches, interventions from ministers, and specific debates.
Flagging the recurring power cuts, Leader of the Opposition Udhayanidhi Stalin of the DMK on Monday (June 22, 2026) asked the TVK-led government when the issue would be resolved. He also criticised the government over crimes against women and electoral assurances.
In his speech on the Motion of Thanks to the Governor for his address in the Assembly, he referred to the recurring power cuts in the Perambur constituency. In response, Minister R. Nirmalkumar explained the steps being taken by the government and said a White Paper would be released in a few days.
In response to some observations made by Mr. Nirmalkumar, DMK MLAs V. Senthilbalaji and S.S. Sivasankar, both former Ministers, joined the debate and recalled the steps by the DMK government for creating electricity infrastructure in the State.
