Okorocha: Uzodimma Never Won An Election + Ganduje Hails Ruling + Peter Obi Enugu Venue Row |OjyOkpe

A Federal High Court in Abuja has nullified Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma's candidacy for the Imo West Senatorial District, declaring former Governor, Rochas Okorocha the lawful APC candidate. Speaking on ARISE Prime Time, Okorocha said Uzodimma has never won any election and questioned how a sitting governor, whose tenure runs until January 2028, could leave his post for the Senate. The Imo APC insists Uzodimma remains its candidate, and the state government has called the judgment a miscarriage of justice and says it will appeal. Concurrently, an old video from a 2021 event in Rivers State, showing Okorocha dancing with then-Governor, Nyesom Wike, has resurfaced online. Wike, now the FCT Minister, has vowed to oppose Uzodimma's reported Senate Presidency ambition. Meanwhile, former APC National Chairman, Abdullahi Ganduje visited Okorocha on Thursday, hours after the ruling, describing it as a well-deserved victory and a vindication. In the National Assembly, Senator Adams Oshiomhole spoke on human trafficking during Wednesday's plenary. The Edo North lawmaker recalled telling an Italian ambassador that Italy should tackle the demand for trafficked women while Edo State tackled the supply, and said the envoy replied that Italians cannot resist Edo girls. The management of the event centre, which the NDC accused of cancelling last minute under government pressure, says no political party booked its facility. It says the October 29th booking was made by a professional body for a national conference, that it cancelled it when political party decoration materials arrived on Wednesday, and later allowed the event to go ahead as a youth town hall to avoid a breach of the peace. It insists it received no instruction from the Enugu State Government, and the NDC is yet to respond. Also, new details have emerged on NDC supporter, Mustapha Rilwan Olawale, whose arrest prompted Obi to demand his release. His lawyers confirmed that the DSS arrested him over a WhatsApp message to INEC's Resident Electoral Commissioner for Lagos State, Professor Ayobami Salami, which the commissioner found threatening. The commissioner has accepted his apology but wants him to sign an undertaking never to repeat it, and the lawyers say no political party was behind the arrest. Meanwhile, a pro-NDC video compares the living conditions of the average police officer with Presidency spending, including 5 billion naira for a new presidential yacht and 21 billion naira for the Vice President's home. Skit maker, Anti Abiba announced the death of her brother in an emotional video that went viral on Thursday. She said the family exhausted their savings and borrowed heavily to keep him in hospital during a prolonged illness, before running out of money and bringing him home. On the banking sector, Fidelity Bank has fully repaid its 400 million dollar Eurobond at maturity. The five-year notes, issued in 2021 with a coupon of 7.625 percent, were redeemed on Wednesday from the bank's own liquidity. The repayment follows its recapitalisation, which lifted eligible regulatory capital to about 533 billion naira, above the 500 billion naira minimum for banks with an international licence. Managing Director, Dr Nneka Onyeali-Ikpe said the bank planned for this maturity from the outset. Nigerian cyclist, Bello Muhammad has set a new Guinness World Record for the tallest bicycle ridden unassisted, at nine feet, five inches. He built the bike himself and set the record in Kebbi State on September 22nd, mounting, riding and dismounting without safety tethers. On Wednesday, the certificate was presented in Birnin Kebbi, where the Head of Service rewarded him with one million naira. Finally, global superstar, Burna Boy gave fans a sneak peek of a brand-new unreleased song live in London on Thursday night, performing with his live band at the Apple Music Hall.
