The U.S. and Iran publicly traded threats today, but behind the scenes, diplomats are racing to revive the ceasefire deal that collapsed this week after the White House accused Tehran of targeting commercial ships in the Strait of Hormuz.
Unconfirmed reports now say those strikes were a mistake and the Iranian regime is blaming hardliners for attacking without authorization.
Both Iran and the U.S. appear to be holding off on new strikes, at least for the moment.
