The Nigerian Federal Government has filed a 13-count charge at the Federal High Court in Abuja against six individuals—including two retired military officers and a serving police inspector—over an alleged plot to overthrow President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
In another story, INEC sparked widespread reactions after announcing that an alleged X account linked to its chairman, @joashamupitan, is “forensically unverifiable” following an independent digital investigation. The probe—conducted by an unnamed expert and detailed in a six-page statement—examined claims that the chairman operated the account, which had posted a pro-APC message saying “Victory is Sure.”
It comes as an old video from 2007 from the late President Umaru Musa Yar'Adua is still resonating with users, in which he suggested a bold anti-corruption plan necessary for a place like Nigeria.
In another development, a viral video has triggered online outrage after showing Chief of Staff Femi Gbajabiamila allegedly urging lawmaker Leke Abejide to remain in the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and “scatter” it. The comments, made at a birthday event in Abuja, have drawn criticism because Gbajabiamila is a member of the ruling APC, raising concerns about interference in an opposition party.
Meanwhile, a video of Nafiu Bala has stirred confusion online after he responded mostly in Hausa to interview questions asked in English. Already criticized for his limited fluency in English during public appearances, Bala mixed both languages in this clip and stated that English is not his native language.
Social media is in uproar over reports that a woman identified as Love Dooshima was held in police custody overnight after posting a video where she questioned the safety of a loaf of bread that stayed fresh for two months.
Bon Bread’s CEO had earlier filed a police complaint against her, claiming her post harmed its reputation with IGP Tunji Disu intervening to secure her release.
