Description
Peter Macann demonstrates some of the latest developments in flatscreen technology.
The miniature Sony Watchman TV uses a traditional cathode ray tube, but cunningly gets around the problem of bulk by locating the cathode ray tube to the side of the screen and bending the electrons onto its tiny phosphor screen.
Another technique involves the use of liquid crystal displays, which are less power hungry than cathode ray tubes. Peter demonstrates a handheld video game, and a portable oscilloscope that employ LCD technology.
Finally, he demonstrates a working prototype of a wristwatch TV from Japan. Is the stuff of dreams about to become a reality?
