How it works?

Installation Guide

Follow these simple steps to install the SkipCut Chrome extension

Download the Extension

Click the download button above to get the skipcut-extension.zip file. Save it to your computer in an easy-to-find location like your Downloads folder.

Extract the ZIP File

Right-click on the downloaded ZIP file and select "Extract All" or "Extract Here". This will create a folder containing the extension files.

Open Chrome Extensions Page

Open Google Chrome and navigate to the Extensions page using one of these methods:

Method 1: Type in address bar: chrome://extensions/
Method 2: Menu → More Tools → Extensions
Method 3: Press Ctrl+Shift+E (Windows) or Cmd+Shift+E (Mac)

Enable Developer Mode

In the top-right corner of the Extensions page, toggle the "Developer mode" switch to ON. This allows you to install extensions from outside the Chrome Web Store.

Load the Extension

Click the "Load unpacked" button that appears after enabling Developer Mode. Navigate to and select the extracted SkipCut extension folder.

Pin the Extension

After installation, click the puzzle piece icon in Chrome's toolbar and pin the SkipCut extension for easy access. You should see the SkipCut icon in your toolbar.

Refresh the YouTube Page

Visit YouTube and look for the SkipCut icon on video cards. Click it to open videos in ad-free mode. Refresh the page if you don't see the icons immediately.

Tip: If you don't see the SkipCut icons on video cards, try refreshing the YouTube page or restarting Chrome.

Troubleshooting

Having issues with the extension? Here are some common solutions:

  • Icons not showing: Refresh the YouTube page or restart Chrome
  • Extension not loading: Make sure Developer Mode is enabled in Chrome Extensions
  • Permission denied: Check that you selected the correct folder (not the ZIP file)
  • Extension disabled: Go to chrome://extensions/ and make sure SkipCut is enabled
  • Not working on some videos: Try clicking the extension icon in the toolbar and then the video
  • Chrome security warning: This is normal for unpacked extensions - click "Load anyway"
